Slough Carers Support, in partnership with local organisations, will mark National Carers Week with a series of free events and activities for Slough’s carers next week (11 – 17 June 2018).

Events and activities will include yoga classes, a visit to the Royal Opera House, afternoon tea, a Samba drumming performance, networking and social events, Boccia and indoor curling, art, singing, mindfulness sessions and more.

In addition, to launch the week there will be the Unsung Heroes Celebratory Event at the Masonic Centre on Ragstone Road on Monday, which will recognise the invaluable contributions of carers across the borough.

The event, which will take place between 11am and 3pm, will feature a range of activities including performances from Slough artists, interactive sessions with local organisations and groups, pampering sessions and more. Mayor of Slough, councillor Paul Sohal, will also be attendance at this event.

Carers Week is an opportunity for Slough’s 11,600 carers to take a break, have some fun and meet up with other carers to enjoy a variety of activities.

Carers will also be able to find out about organisations and networks available to support them, as well as sign up to the Slough Carers Card, which offers discounts at a range of local shops, businesses and services.

Councillor Natasa Pantelic, cabinet member for health and social care, said: "We are so proud of our carers in Slough, who work every day to make a difference in our local communities.

“Carers Week is our way of saying a big thank you to them and celebrating their work, which is extremely important and valued by all of us."
